Dell Inspiron 6400 Laptop For Sale
I have a Dell Inspiron 6400, which I love, and use for several hours every day. It is quick and very reliable, and suits my needs for web surfing and email, as well as running computers graphics programs, watching video and for all the documents I generate and store. I bought it with Vista pre-installed, but immediately reformatted the hard disk and installed Ubuntu, which works brilliantly.
This is my second Inspiron 6400 - three months after buying my first I was burgled, and my laptop was stolen. I was offered Hewlett Packard and Sony machines as replacements, at twice the cost, by my insurer, but I was adamant that only an Inspiron 6400 would be acceptable, and ended up buying it myself.
The only things I would change are the robustness of the touchpad buttons - they get a bit sticky with the kind of heavy use I subject them to - and the Dell MediaDirect button, which overwrites part of the operating system if pressed. This latter is only an issue with user-installed operating systems (single or dual boot), so many users will not have any difficulties, but it was a nuisance when it happened to me, although I managed to rectify it and retrieve all my data. It would still not put me off buying another Dell, as I think they are seriously reliable and unbeatable value for money.
