Compaq Presario
My laptop is a Compaq Presario. I bought it because it was very inexpensive - $500. I use it for e-mail, playing games, watching DVDs, and more. It needs more RAM. 512k is nowhere near enough Ram for a laptop - 1 gig would have been much better. This is a widescreen and that helps when watching movies. I have noticed in the last year the touchpad has worn away the paint or enamel where it is used often. This laptop should be considered a starter one and not for LONG TERM use. I will be looking to replace as soon as possible and give this to my 12 year old daughter.

It has empathy too and if I do not understand anything it gives so many options and tries to explain things, without making you feel that you are too dumb, or that it is beyond you. I love it because though it is a thing of my grand children's generation, yet it has taken me also in its fold.I would like to see one improvement and that if it could make conversation on general topics it would be the best friend to anyone."

"I own a Compaq Presario. As a first laptop, it serves its purpose but isn't really suited for anything more than casual use. I use it mainly for browsing the internet and typing word documents. It isn't rugged enough to be taken anywhere and is extremely quick to overheat. The battery life is average. I do love the screen though. It is a widescreen and great for watching movies on, as long as you have headphones. The volume and speakers are bad. It has a touchpad above the keyboard that controls the volume and has a quickstart button. About three months after I purchased the laptop, it started going crazy. It would turn the volume up all the way like i was touching it, then back down again. It would also make the chirping sounds like it was being touched. All in all, it was very annoying. I sent it to Compaq to get it fixed, but they just fixed an issue I had with the charger. After a while, the problem just went away. I would DEFINITELY not suggest it to anyone I know buying a computer. "
