There are many reasons that you may want to find an affordable notebook to meet your needs. In the past, most households had large bulky desktop computers. Laptops were considered to be somewhat of a luxury for many people. Most families could afford a machine for about $350 that the whole family would gain use from. But paying around $1500 for a laptop computer seemed out of the question. Besides the main idea of a laptop would be to use it as a personal computer that could travel everywhere. Using a laptop as a communal computer seemed silly.

Over the years as laptops have finally started to become more affordable, you have probably decided that now is the time to finally purchase the laptop you've always kind of wanted in the back of your mind. You can get many new laptops for under $1000, and since more of your life requires the use of a good computer than it did ten years ago, the purchase of a laptop probably seems much more justified. You probably use some form of a computer for business and personal reasons to a much greater extent than you ever did ten years ago. But finding an affordable notebook is your next hurdle. There are a few major mistakes you can make when you're trying to find an affordable notebook.

The main mistake most people will make in trying to find an affordable notebook, is buying a computer that is used. Don't feel like all used computers are bad, this is not true--though will find many used computers that are. On many online classifieds sites you can find used affordable notebooks for under $300. It is fine to purchase these machines. These machines were probably rebuilt by amateur computer repair buffs and will probably work well for you for about two or three years. Don't expect these machines to last much longer than that though. Another thing to keep in mind is that many of these machines are older laptop models and will be bulkier and heavier to carry around than the newer models you see advertised everywhere.

The next mistake that many people make in trying to find an affordable notebook is choosing form over function. Of course the primary goal for getting your laptop computer is finding a computer that is easy to carry and that looks nice, but you want to make sure that you also find an affordable notebook that will provide you with the functionality you will need. If you cannot afford one that will just yet, it's best to hold out for a few years until you can.
