HP Pavillion DV2660SE Gaming laptop

The HP Pavillion DV2660SE (Special Edition) laptop is a great mid-range gaming computer. What sets it apart from the rest of the competition is the extra features and impressive design/look. To me, the striking black and silver Imprint case is quite eye catching, with its charcoal and bronze pattern. Also nice is the 14.1 inch screen and the slim weight of only 5.5 pounds, making it great for travel since it runs a bit smaller than average size for the mid-range laptop market. It has impressive battery life (about 5-6 hours at full charge). However, the location of the battery is a little off considering how it pokes out of the bottom of the machine.

This laptop is build on the HP Pavilion DV2500t platform, but has some upgrades from the more budget models. These include a 250GB hard drive, a multiformat dual-layer DVD burner, 802.11a/b/g Wi-Fi, a Webcam, and a card reader supporting the Memory Stick, MultiMediaCard, SD, and xD-Picture Card formats. The full size keyboard is smooth and quiet, and the touchpad works like a charm as long as your hands are dry and clean. It is also loaded with FireWire, S-Video, and VGA ports, but is lacking an HDMI. There's also an ExpressCard slot where you can stick the included HP Mobile Remote for controlling multimedia playback from across the room. And, as with all of HP's entertainment-oriented Pavilions, the DV2660SE features blue back-lit multimedia buttons for controlling audio and video playback.

The display, however, shows the machine's budget leanings. While the 1,280x800 LCD is certainly bright and rich enough, the viewing-angle range of the panel is terrible. If you aren't directly in front of the screen, the quality of the picture and the brightness degrade significantly. Therefore, this is a good machine for a single user as you could not place it on a table for a room full of people to watch a DVD.

Truthfully, this is a great computer for the price. It is sold as a pre-built system only, so you can not make any modifications to it prior to purchase, or configure any of the components. The company backs the system with a one-year parts-and-labor warranty, with tech support available 24/7 via phone, chat, or e-mail.

I would highly recommend checking for this item on Ebay, to get the best possible price.
