When you are in the market for a laptop computer, you have likely experienced the same thing I did. When I looked into buying a portable model, I noticed that there are now two classes of computers. There is the netbook, which initially appealed to me a lot because it was so affordable. However, I started to realize that it may not have the capabilities that I was looking for. The problem was that full sized notebook computers were prohibitively expensive. I needed a fully functional laptop and found just the ticket with the HP Pavilion dv2. It had several features of the full sized notebooks, without being really expensive. It also offered the power that I needed.
HP Pavilion dv2
Unlike most lightweight netbooks models, the HP Pavilion dv2 maintain full function while being extremely lightweight and portable. The screen checks in at around 12 inches, much larger than competitors. I also really enjoyed typing on the large keyboard. It was barely distinguishable from a full sized computer and is actually 92% of the standard keyboard size. The biggest seller for me was the size of the hard drive. The hard drive on my HP Pavilion dv2 was 320 gigs, making it ideal for storing photos and graphic files. This was much better than the ultra small hard drives that I was seeing on the netbook models.
Of course, I did pay a bit more than the bargain basement prices that I was seeing for netbook models. I saw some that were priced around $350-450 and the HP Pavilion dv2 came in around $650 retail price. However, it was still well under the $1000 range, so I thought that it was very worth the bit of extra that I paid. Having the ability to accomplish normal computing tasks and storing files and media was essential. I also could watch movies and play around with different types of media. Also, being an HP, it comes fully equipped with the lightdrive technology, which is really fun when you are making a CD or DVD.
When I first began my search for a portable, but functional laptop computer, I was unsure that I would be able to find something that met my requirements. I wanted a very portable and lightweight computer, while also keeping functionality in mind. I was definitely happy to discover that the HP Pavilion dv2 fit all these criteria while keeping in my budget. In the end I found a computer that bridged the gap and met all my computing needs by looking on eBay. I was able to save even more over retail price.
