A Closer Look at the Thinnest of All Apple Laptops

The MacBook Air is one of the newest Apple laptops that was originally released in early 2008 and has been upgraded as late as June 2009. It features Apple's new aluminum unibody design that has similarly been extended to the MacBook and MacBook Pro models. The name MacBook Air is very suitable, since this weighs in at around only 3 pounds and it is so unbelievably thin. I'm careful with all computers I handle in general and so I don't intend to test out the durability, but it does seem quite sturdy.

The MacBook Air has a very beautiful glossy 13.3-inch, wide-screen display that is crystal clear. The display is powered by LED, which means that you can get up to 5 hours of life out of the battery before needing to charge it.

Personally, I find the MacBook Air to be one of the most innovative Apple laptops that has been released in the past few years. It's as fast as it is thin and light, and it seems like they are pushing it to the limit with the portability of this laptop, especially when compared to other Apple laptops.

The main drawback I find with the MacBook Air is its lack of the CD/DVD-ROM, but this is what makes it so thin and light. Another issue is that it only has one USB 2.0 port, which can be a problem for some people. If you want to use an external keyboard and mouse with the MacBook Air, I suggest you consider using devices that work with Bluetooth since this will help free up the single USB port. Another solution is to buy a multiple-port USB hub that is USB-based. You can plug the USB hub into the MacBook Air's single USB port to use additional devices, but to be honest it isn't the most attractive solution given the fact that the main idea behind the MacBook Air is elegance and portability.

The last possible drawback is the inability to upgrade the MacBook Air beyond its 2GB memory and and 120GB or 128GB hard drive. While this could be accepted for a portable, it prevents the MacBook Air from being used as a desktop replacement.

In summary, this laptop is great for getting most work done, and it's most ideal for using it online. Some may refer to the MacBook Air to be the high-end version of a netbook from Apple laptops, but Apple prefers to refer to it as an ultraportable. Regardless of the category of laptop it falls in, Apple has definitely set a new standard with the MacBook Air.
